I’m in

I got word last night in the form of a big envolope.

Dear Mr Bernius:

On behalf of the Division of Social Sciences, I am pleased to offer you admission to the University of Chicago for graduate study in the Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences for the 2004/2005 academic year.

Perhaps more surpising was what came next:

In addition, I am pleased to inform you that we can offer financial assistance

They are funding 1/3, approximately $10,000 of my cost.

I don’t know what to say, I’m scared and excited at the same time.

Still no word

I thought I had gotten the letter yesterday. But it turned out to be an information packet from another school. “ANOTHER SCHOOL???!!!” you say. Yup. I had to have a backup plan in case I didn’t get into Chicago right? More to follow on that based on how the next few weeks play out.

But I do promise that a lot of stuff is going to go down and very soon!

– Matt

Admissions decisions are mailed to all applicants who meet the December 28 deadline no later than the second week in March.

Ok, then I’m entering into the last three weeks of waiting. All too soon I’m going to find out about Chicago.

That sound you all are hearing is my stomach churning.

and now for something stomach churning

I don’t know if this is true. If it is, uggg:

Coca-Cola Co. to market beer-flavored drink in Japan

The Coca-Cola company recently announced plans to launch a beer-flavored carbonated beverage in Japan.

Coca-Cola`s Japanese unit will introduce a beer-tasting drink next month, but one with almost no alcohol.

The carbonated beverage will be called Sky Malt and will be the first of two alcohol-flavored offerings on the way. In May, Coke Japan plans to sell a brand called Sokkahappo that will taste like a cocktail.

While both drinks will have less than 0.1 percent alcohol, they will be sold only to those 20 years and older.
