Actually the better question is what the heck happened to my work computer. Last week it died. Dead dead. Like hardware crash. So it took a few days to get it back. After that I had to deal with browser issues. But now I’m all fixed and running Mozilla… I feel so hip.

Unfortunately I just got up and running and I really don’t have time to blog what’s been up. So instead I’ll placate all of you with one of those pictures I was promising. This is possibly the best picture I’ve ever taken. Or rather one of the few special effects photos that came out the way I intended. This was taken using time delay in a dark area with light sticks. The effect is pretty cool. BTW the photo links to a larger version should you want to download it.

I’m back from a long weekend. I was off first in Portsmith, New Hampshire attending my friend Shaun’s wedding. Then from there I went to Boston to stay with Mike, a college room mate, and got the chance to meet his wonderful girlfriend Allison. I returned yesterday and had a pretty scary adventure on the way back, which I’ll blog about later. Today is dedicated to catching up with a number of things.

sometimes I really wonder about people

from Yoe Studio’s Hip List Newletter for this week:

+++HIPPEST: A Hairy Situation

So you thought the feng shui trend was over? Think again! Now there’s feng shui for your hair. Salons specializing in the technique are popping up all over, offering hairstyles that will clear negative energy from your life. As an added bonus, the haircuts, which cost up to $250, will also clear out your wallet.

works cut out for us

We began work last night on the new home of Renaissance Martial Arts. While Sifu and Coach plotted floor space, we tore down a temporary wall, moved a lot of odds and ends that were stored in there and started to tear down the drop ceiling. Unfortunately all I brought with me was a film camera, so you’ll have to wait on the before and after shots. Suffice to say we have our work cut out for us.

And I have my work cut out for me for the weekend. Top among those tasks is mail out my brother Glenn’s much belated Birthday gifts (and get Jenny’s much belated birthday gift). Glenns is the most pressing as he’s apparently already mailed out mine, proving once again that I’m the stinky brother when it comes to gift givin’.

Things are slowly getting under control. Probably the best thing to do would be to take a weeks vacation and just concentrate on getting caught up on everything, but right now I don’t have that luxary. We’re considering moving the martial arts school. Which is cool, but I’m trying to find time to make sure that the business case works. And I’m trying to figure out how I can be supportive of this without being pulled to far in.

life in the windy city

monday night finds me in Chicago on business for Kodak. So much for having my life back after the play. Today has been intense. I left Rochester at 6.45 or so to drive to Buffalo. From there I caught a plane (barely) for Chicago. Almost the entire day has been spent at user testing of the new learning content that I’m working on. And now I find myself in a hotel room trying to stay awake long enough to write this.

The play wrapped this weekend. Again, I’ll make no comments on it until after Wednesday night and the cast debrief. I can say that I feel like I’m coming out of a haze. Unfortunately as part of that I’m just starting to realize all the things I missed over the last few weeks while I was in “play mode.” And that was only exaserbated by the work and personal deadlines that were crashing down around me. One thing is for sure, I’m really going to work not to allow this type of thing to happen again.

Sleep calls and it’s back to Buffalo tomorrow on a 6.40am flight. Zzzzzzzz
